Vacation to "Aunt" Laura's - The Day at the Campground

We spent the day Thursday at the KOA campground that we were staying at. This is how Laura and Cat look at breakfast time - pretty scary!

They had an awesome "jumping pillow" there. Jonas' favorite thing to do was run and fall down! I think the adults might have enjoyed it the most!

We had camper pies for dinner, cooked over a wonderful fire built with Laura's Three Springs skills. Right before bedtime we went to Maggie Moos for some ice cream. You might be wondering if Jonas actually ate any. I'm guessing maybe half of it. It is the kind of place where you can pick your own "mix-in", and Jonas picked marshmallows. Of course, when he got the cone with the marshmallows in it, he proceeded to pick them all out and pile them on a napkin. It is not easy to pick all the marshmallows out of a cone and eat it before it melts!

Vacation to "Aunt" Laura's - Wednesday

On Wednesday, we went to the Discovery Place in downtown Charlotte. Jonas saw lots of different animals, got to do experiments, and even touch starfish! But his favorite things were playing with blocks and playing in water...go figure.

After the Discovery Place, we walked around a bit downtown and headed to a little sandwich place for lunch. After about and hour there, Jonas fell sound asleep on the table. So, we stayed there another hour and a half so Jonas could nap.

We also checked out the Charlotte mall, which is WAY bigger than the ones in Buffalo. There is even a train that drives around, which Jonas loved!

Laura also made us a delicious dinner that night, chicken alfredo, one of my favorites. Jonas and I both loved it. Thanks "Aunt" Laura!

Vacation to "Aunt" Laura's - The Lake

On Tuesday we went to Sonic for lunch and got to be served by a lady on roller skates! Tons of fun...unfortunately Jonas slept through the whole thing. The waitress did give us toys for him though! Later in the day, we went to a beautiful lake near Laura's house. We had a nice walk and saw a bunch of baby ducks. We stayed and had dinner at a restaurant there. Jonas was out until about 9 PM, but he was a good boy!

Here's Jonas at the playground they had there. He had to hold his own against the big kids there; he did a pretty good job!

Crystal Beach

Despite the rainy weather today, we actually made it out to Crystal Beach for some swimming and playing in the sand. Jonas took a little bit to warm up to the water, but he had a lot of fun once he did. His favorite part was jumping the waves with Mommy. He also spent a lot of time being concerned about Baxter, "Aunt" Beth's new little puppy. Once the thunderstorms hit, we packed up and headed over to the McKernans for some yummy hot dogs and hamburgers!

Water Fountains!

Thursday Jonas spent some time at the water fountains near Como Park School with his cousins and Faith. He loved playing in the spouts and getting soaked!

We finished off the day at Frosty's. Jonas finished the bottom of my ice cream cone. He definitely takes after me in the ice cream department!

The Reception

Jonas got to ride in a limo for the first time. He was a very good boy and thought it was so cool he declared "My car!" He also enjoyed the stop at the McKernan's for pictures because he got to hang out with Mr. McKernan and eat cookies and look at the bubbles in the hot tub. When we got to the reception Jonas was surprised by a new racing chair! He also got a coloring book and crayons. He had a special little kid's meal with chicken nuggets and smiley face french fries. He enjoyed dinner (as you can see from the top picture) and ran up to the head table once in a while to say hi to Mommy. After dinner he did some serious dancing and ran around like a crazy man. When Jonas and Bethany had enough, Uncle Matt took them home to go to bed. It was a very fun day, and Jonas is officially an experienced ringbearer!

It's Time!

So despite being cheered up by playing hide and seek, neither of the children wanted to leave the room and walk down the aisle. Bethany wouldn't let me put her down, so I carried her. Jonas started walking ahead of me, but only got about 1/4 of the way down the aisle before he turned around and wanted me to carry him too. So, with one on each hip, down we went. That was the good part. When I put Jonas and Bethany down in the pew with Grandma, Jonas started bawling when he realized I wasn't coming to sit by him and I was going to the front. Aunt Lisa had to take both kids to the back of the church and ended up missing the whole wedding. What a good aunt and mommy she is. Despite the beginning not going as planned, the wedding was gorgeous and Mr. & Mrs. Ryan McKernan looked great! Congratulations guys, we love you!
