Flooding

We decided to hike down to the creek on Saturday to check out the flooding creek.  With all the snow melting and all the rain, it was pretty crazy to see how high the creek had gotten.

Maybe it is hard to tell in the pictures, but the water was moving super fast, too.  We played around and hiked for a couple hours, and right when we were finishing up, we got caught in a torrential downpour!  We were all soaking wet - but the kids still wanted to play in the tree house when we got back instead of coming inside.  Thank God for the warmer temperatures on Saturday!

Happy Birthday, Brynn!

Brynn turns 8 tomorrow!  We spent a lot of the weekend celebrating - first on Saturday in Collins, and then on Sunday in Depew.

First up:  Collins Birthday!
Enjoying yummy strawberry cake at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Present time!  Brynn got lots of really neat Lego Friends sets, and a Spirograph!  Remember those??

And of course, some game time with Grandma.

Birthday in Depew:
Presents first - Grandma won the best present reaction with a soundtrack from the movie Frozen.  Aunt Lisa won the most confused reaction with a "Boogie Board" (which is apparently some kind of electronic writing tablet).

Cake - Pokemon!

And just some random party shots:

I apparently didn't take any pictures of Jonas at this party.  He was there.  So although this is technically still Jonas' blog - he is pretty hard to find in this post.  I think you can spot him on the right side of one of the gifs if you look close enough...:-)

Winter Fun Day

Friday was "Winter Fun Day" at Trinity.  It couldn't have been a more perfect day for it.  We had fun making snow sculptures, sledding, relay racing, and building snowmen!  It was warm enough out that Jonas was hot in his snow clothes.  We finished the day with some yummy hot chocolate in our classrooms.

Squeak

Part of Grandma and Papa's Christmas present to Jonas was a new guinea pig.  After much deliberation in the pet store, Jonas picked out a very cute little boy pig (that has a striking resemblance to Sophie!).  He named him Squeak Nibble Herdlein, or just Squeak, for short.

Little Chefs

Jonas has really expressed an interest in cooking lately, and has been a big help in the kitchen.  In keeping with our New Year's resolution to eat healthier meals, Jonas and the girls made us super yummy (and healthy) pizzas!

The kids wanted to eat a pineapple pizza.

And for the adults, they made a delicious white pizza with tomatoes, onions, and green peppers.  Yum!

In the end, we had 2 very yummy looking pizzas for dinner, and 4 very proud chefs!
