Burchfield Adventures

Jonas and I went to the Burchfield park today to play on the playground and in the creek. Jonas threw about 50 stones in the creek, and waded in up to his knees.

The highlight, however, was not so much getting to play in the water. It was this little acorn Jonas found, and he loved that it floats! He threw it in the water and caught it before it floated away a ton of times.

After playing in the creek, we decided to walk along some trails to find squirrels to give the acorn to. Jonas led the way, telling me which path was the right one to go down to find squirrels. The other paths, apparently, had lions. As it turned out, we never found any squirrels, and we got completely lost. We ended up coming out somewhere around a cemetery after walking for about an hour and a half. Lucky for us we could find the creek, and we followed it back to the playground. Jonas never complained about walking once, because he thought our adventure was so fun!

Jonas to a girl at the playground: Want to play hide and seek with me?
Girl: I'm too old for that game.

So Jonas burst into tears. She still didn't play with him!
The day turned out to be beautiful and sunny. At the playground!

Motorcycle Man

Jonas is still obsessed with Uncle Mike's motorcycle. Yesterday he got to try out everything, the bike, helmet, and glasses! He was loving it! Look at that cool face...

Playground Day

On Monday we went to the playground at Fireman's Park. Despite the wading pool not being open, Jonas had lots of fun and made friends with a couple kids who were there playing. Favorite ride - tire swing!

Jonas to a little boy at the playground: I'm bigger. You're 40 pounds and I'm 5 pounds!

Black Lake

Jonas is home safe and sound from vacation with his dad. He joined the whole Herdlein clan at Black Lake!

New Jersey Vacation - Part 3

On Thursday we rented a boat to go tubing. We all had a great time, but we were sore the next day!

Jonas rode on the tube twice, once with me and once with Aunt Lisa. He would've gone by himself if I'd let him!

By the end of the ride Jonas had fallen asleep cuddling with me :)

After dropping Jonas and Bekah off for naps and having some lunch, we headed back out, and tried some doubles tubing!

Everyone looking tired

What vacation would be complete without some mini golf?

Sparklers!!!

This was our last day on the beach. I think Jonas was covered with sand from head to toe the whole vacation!

Burying Aunt Lisa

All in all we had a great trip, and Jonas was really a trooper through the whole thing. I can't wait for Disney 2012!

New Jersey Vacation - Part 2

We spent a day at the Great Adventure theme park. Jonas was a little daredevil, and he was disappointed that he wasn't tall enough to go on the big roller coasters. Even so, he had a great time going on the rides that he was big enough for, and we were all good and exhausted by the end of the day!

Ready for the day!

This was Jonas' favorite ride, but I'm not sure Bethany appreciated getting all wet! Jonas and I were soaked!

Aunt Lisa was terrified of the ferris wheel, which was not a good thing, because Bethany loved it and wanted to ride over and over!

How is it possible to go from this:

to this, in less than 1 minute?

Meeting Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird!

The teacups were tons of fun and Bethany and Jonas loved spinning super fast!

Sweet little Abby being her usual good-natured self

According to my pictures, all grandma did was talk on the phone all day!

New Jersey Vacation

A couple of weeks ago our whole family went on a vacation to the ocean in New Jersey.

Here are the kids giving me their "I'm ready for the beach!" poses:

It turns out that only Jonas was really ready for the beach...the girls didn't so much enjoy it. Jonas got right in there, and let the waves knock right into him!

We went to see the Barnegat Lighthouse, where grandma went when she was a little girl. Jonas was a trooper climbing up the 217 steps, but he needed Uncle Mike to carry him down! We also got Syrup, the newest addition to our hermit crab family, at the gift shop (where grandma got her first hermit crab!) We even fit in some letter boxing while we were there!

We spent some time looking at in all the shops on the boardwalk and checking out the goofy games and attractions.
