Sunday School Christmas Pageant

We had our annual Sunday School pageant today.  Jonas was really excited to be 2 parts - Caesar Augustus and one of the wise men.  He practiced hard to learn his lines, and he looked great in his costume.  In his words, it made him look "rich".

Cousin Joey was Jonas' guard when he was playing the role of Caesar.  I loved this scene - 2 of my favorite boys!

The wise man carrying myrrh - that was really important information according to Jonas.

Celebrating success with his friends Amelia and Emma.

As always, I was blessed by working with the kids and sharing in their enthusiasm to share the Christmas story.  I hope you all share it, too!  Have a wonderful Christmas week!

Playing in the Rain

Why should a little rain stop us from playing outside?

Kindergarten Graduation

For the past 2 years, I've taught Jonas and my niece Bethany.  It has been amazing to see how much they have learned and grown since they were coming into my Pre-K classroom last year.  I am so proud of them for how hard they've worked!  I love my whole class, and they did awesome!  Congratulations Cole, Denny, Jonas, Bethany, Joshua, and Amelia.  Here comes 1st grade!

Field Day

Today we had our field day at school.  Despite a rough start and a little frustration over not winning ribbons, Jonas ended up winning a 3rd place ribbon in the 50 yard dash, and some participation ribbons for his team winning the tug-of-war.  He couldn't have been happier and showed them off all day.  It was the perfect day for it, and we all had a great time!

Sack race - this one was rough...but Jonas made it through and got a ribbon in the next event - the 50 yard dash.  Bethany did great too, but she would only participate if I did too...the things I do to be a good teacher/aunt :-)

Thanks for everyone that worked hard to make this event happen!  The kids love it!

School Picnic

On Wednesday we went to Camp Pioneer for our school picnic.  Despite the rain early on, it turned out to be a beautiful day.  Some of the kids even braved the lake, including Jonas, of course.

We also did a scavenger hunt, but I forgot to take pictures of that :-)  I did get a fair amount of pictures at the beach though.  Jonas loved it, although the girls weren't quite as ready to freeze in the water.

Memorial Day Camping

We spent our Memorial Day weekend camping at Allegany State Park with the Laffertys, the Radts, and the Sirgeys!  Jonas had a ton of fun, despite the mosquito bites.  It was also his weekend to bring home Brother Bear, his class' pet stuffed animal.  We had fun taking pictures of him, too!

Our first campfire - roasting marshmallows and making s'mores!

Saturday morning we went on a hike to see the bear caves.  We only found one actual cave, but we got to climb through tunnels and on top of rocks, which Jonas thought was pretty cool.  They also got to use some walkie talkies that Uncle Mike brought, which was was definitely the highlight of the morning.

Saturday afternoon we went on a creek walk - which involved swatting away a crazy amount of mosquitos the entire time.  It was nice to be in the water and cool down, though!

Sunday's big event was going to Thunder Rocks.  It's basically a big area in the woods filled with giant rocks that the kids could climb on.  They all loved this - even Abby!

Before we left on Monday we went back to Thunder Rocks one more time.  This time the exciting part was the wildlife we saw there - a butterfly and a snake!  Jonas found the butterfly hurt on the parking lot, and wanted to take a picture to show his classmates since they just finished learning about life cycles.  Uncle Matt found the snake behind a tree, and Jonas was able to get pretty close to it without it slithering away.  Cool!

Jonas was good and exhausted, and in bed by 6:30 Monday evening.  I call that a good weekend!
